JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The laboratory of Elizabeth Elacqua in the Department of Chemistry at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to fill a position for an Assistant Research Professor focused on organic synthesis and polymer chemistry. Projects will involve development of novel approaches to synthesize conjugated polymers through olefin metathesis polymerization, including aspects related to catalyst development, and the use of folded polymers for light-mediated catalysis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in one or more of the following fields: synthetic polymer chemistry, controlled polymerizations, organic and organometallic synthetic methodology, catalysis, ring-opening metathesis polymerization, carbon-based materials, and polymer characterization. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in an area broadly relevant to our research program by the time employment starts. The individual should be highly self-motivated and is expected to lead their own individual projects as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts. This is a term appointment funded for one-year from the date of hire with excellent possibility of renewal. All applicants will be encouraged to apply for independent funding.
