The Behavioral Health Administrative Service Organization (BHASO) Account Specialist ("Account Specialist") will support the BHASO Fiscal Officer, BHASO Clinical Director and the BHASO Project Director with establishment of payment processes per modality, payment, and reconciliation of provider payments for the BHASO. The Account Specialist will also assist the BHASO Fiscal Officer with reconciliation of each funding stream to the budget for each provider. The Account Specialist will have extensive knowledge of the different funding streams in the BHASO to support the BHASO Fiscal Officer and Clinical Director. The Account Specialist will: reinforce corporate objectives by utilizing organizational and communication skills, aiding management when called upon, assist with invoice submission for provider payment and look for cost saving opportunities by improving current processes and implementing operational efficiencies. The Account Specialist will read and comprehend the BHASO contract language applicable to this role.

Schedule: Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Mountain Standard time

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Work collaboratively with the RMHP BHASO and Medicaid staff, including management, ensuring access to necessary information and systems
  • Respect confidentiality and maintain confidences as described in the UHG Employee Handbook and acknowledged through signature by all employees. The ability to maintain confidentiality is a critical and essential component of this position
  • Develop a strong understanding of the multiple funding streams and payment modalities under the BHASO
  • Become educated, understand and comprehend the BHASO contract language relevant to this role
  • Perform outreach in a professional manner to providers. Be concise, respectful, and transparent in your interactions. Respond promptly to emails, messages, and requests
  • Work with providers to obtain W-9's and validate ACH payment information for quicker reimbursement
  • Send applicable email reminders requesting providers to submit invoices by designated date
  • Work symbiotically with BHASO team to obtain all necessary information for provider invoices and reimbursements
  • Utilize critical thinking to verify shared information in the BHASO operational structure
  • Become well versed in the Concur system when entering and reconciling payment requests. Engage with the AP audit team, when necessary, by providing information needed when Concur submissions are selected for audit
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation outlining different processes that are created
  • Implement process modifications to enhance productivity and minimize manual effort
  • Provide accurate, timely and comprehensive work that complies with BHASO terms and agreements
  • Become cross-trained on daily duties of other BHASO specialist staff to assist in maximum coverage in the event one or more team member is offline
  • At the direction of the RMHP BHASO leadership, Finance Department and/or Business Operations department, take on special projects in accordance with the Mission and Values of the company

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of experience working with providers to obtain ACH payment
  • 1+ years of experience working with provider invoices and reimbursements
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft applications
  • Access to a designated quiet workspace in your home (separated from non-workspace areas) with the ability to secure Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Reside in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
  • Reside in the state of Colorado


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advance experience with Excel
  • Previous experience Performing initial audits of systems and data to ensure policies and procedures are being followed (e.g., set-up, confirmations)

If the employee chooses to satisfy this requirement by driving a vehicle, requires ability to meet the requirements for Colorado licensure and company requirements for liability insurance coverage
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including before and after core business hours and occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and keyboard, sitting and/or standing up to 8-10 hours per day (possibly longer if required)
  • Ability to work in home settings that include varying physical, social, and cultural environments

The salary range for this role is $19.86 to $38.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
