Job Summary

Serve as a liaison for all computing requirements for Avient Protective Materials. Support the workstation hardware, software, and networking requirements of the company. Install, maintain, support, and troubleshoot hardware and software components of microcomputers, printers, modems, and other related peripherals. Assist with resolution of problems with business applications (SAP and Simatic), DIMS, and ISO systems. Provide training and oversight for these systems.

The Plant Systems Engineer will operate within the organizational structure to provide support to Avient Protective Materials for all Production Systems. The person in this role will interact with all staff. Maintain the key user expertise for all Production Systems. Perform system update, queries, and will perform troubleshooting. Interact with APM Dyneema Heerlen and APM Corporate colleagues to coordinate efforts and keep Avient Protective Materials informed and updated.

Essential Functions

Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility



  • Owns and acts as Key-User of SAP and Simatic production systems. Diagnoses and resolves problems at an advanced level with business applications.
  • Abides by Avient Protective Materials procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of: employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of Avient Protective Materials intellectual property limited to a "need to know" only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or APM property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of APM property and keys.
  • Acts as SAP Production liaison for Dyneema. Responsible for implementing, trouble shooting, upgrades, and training users.
  • Owns DIMS and ISO systems for Dyneema. Diagnoses and resolves advanced level problems with B-wise, Documentum, and other DIMS software systems.
  • Provides back-up for the SAP PM Systems Specialist.
  • Tutors customers on the features of the software.
  • Installs and upgrades personal computer software/hardware.
  • Communicates with group members and other support groups to provide efficient resolution to customers' problems.
  • Keeps abreast of new software and/or hardware technologies on the market.
  • Ensures that all work complies with regulatory requirements, safety practices, and applicable standard operating procedures. It is the responsibility of each employee to work in a safe and responsible manner in order to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace and comply with all job-related safety, environmental, and other training requirements.
  • Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste by reviewing DYNPRO SHE DYN 653 and general awareness presentation. Specific job holders will complete more detailed training as well.


Authorities



  • Update Production Systems (such a Business Objects, Simatic, Shift Report, etc) data.
  • Maintain Production Systems user authorizations for Avient Protective Materials.
  • Coordinate Avient Protective Materials Production Systems updates with APM Corporate.
  • Authorized to approve work permits per details included in DYNPRO SHE DYN 026. If so authorized, employee must maintain necessary refresher training to participate in these activities


Projects or Special Assignments



  • Avient Protective Materials IT expert and contact for global APM Dyneema and APM Corporate.
  • Avient Protective Materials representative for Production Systems.


Complexity of the Job

Systems updates made by the Plant Systems Engineer will directly impact business reporting. Reporting generated by this person will be shared locally within Avient Protective Materials, globally within APM Dyneema, and with Corporate APM.

Education and Experience



  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline plus 3 years relevant experience; OR AA/AS degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field plus 4 years relevant experience; OR 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience utilizing or supporting computer technologies.
  • SAP support experience.
  • Documentum support experience.
  • B-wise support experience.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities may be required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office noise levels to loud.
