QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma/GED.
Licenses or Certifications
  • State of Florida Certificate of Compliance-Firefighter II certification.
  • State of Florida EMT or Paramedic.
  • State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector or obtain within ninety (90) days of hire or promotion.
  • Must possess a State of Florida Fire Investigator or International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI)- Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) or NAFI Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI), or obtain within twenty-four (24) months of hire or promotion.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Meets physical ability requirements designated by the Cape Coral Fire Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consults with builders, owners, and contractors to identify potential problems or violations, discusses any necessary modification and/or changes required, and ensures corrective action is taken in assigned area.
  • Inspects buildings and facilities under construction, alteration and/or repair for compliance with applicable code requirements and for safe application of construction practices in assigned area.
  • Receives and investigates complaints related to fire hazard or code violations, makes recommendations, insures notification, and conducts re-inspections.
