Central City Concern is an innovative nonprofit agency providing comprehensive services to single adults and families in the Portland metro area who are impacted by homelessness, poverty and addictions. We hire people that are skilled and passionate to meet our mission to end homelessness through outcome-based strategies which support personal and community transformation.

The Maintenance Worker II is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repairs of the community property they support. This position receives and responds to requests for maintenance from the residents and the Community Maintenance Manager. They are also responsible for performing pest control and inspections, preventative maintenance and repair in commercial, residential and housing projects. Will also identify necessary repairs needed to maintain the safety and appearance of the property, and ensuring the repairs are completed.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM

This position is intended to expand the capacity of our internal Pest Control team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Maintain and repair water systems, heating systems, valves, drains, basins, tubs, faucets, lavatories, sinks and fire sprinkling systems.



  • Service and repair various types of electrical equipment and apparatus.



  • Install and repair general lighting fixtures and connections.



  • Repair unit appliances.



  • Test and clean smoke detectors.



  • Conduct repairs and perform small remodeling projects requiring basic carpentry skills, framing, finishing, tile, carpet laying, wall preparation and painting. Occasionally conduct basic demo and clean-out work in preparation for major rehabilitation.



  • Process work orders.



  • Contact vendors and gather information regarding materials.



  • Fill requests for supplies and materials.



  • Maintain tool inventory, and check in and out as required.



  • Load and unload trucks.



  • Operate appropriate equipment, including, but not limited to, saws (table and hand), drills, carts, and hand trucks



  • Order supplies.



  • Maintain warehouse in safe, clean, and orderly manner.



  • Perform various maintenance repairs.



  • Prepare materials for recycling.



  • Supervise dispatch, delivery and pick-up of equipment for maintenance of buildings.



  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy and security regulations applicable to the program, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.



  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:




  • High school diploma or completion of G.E.D.



  • Five years building maintenance or rehabilitation experience, including maintenance of inventory and records. 6 months current maintenance experience with CCC preferred.



  • Must possess or obtain certification in Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) and Lead-based Paint Activities by Oregon Health Authority (OHA) within 30 days of the hire date.



  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills in all aspects of building maintenance including but not limited to locksmith, HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and flooring.



  • Must possess a current driver's license, pass a DMV background check, and be designated an "acceptable" driver as outlined in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety Policy. Must pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training.



  • Must be able to work in environmental conditions including weather, dust, dirt, fumes, and smoke.



  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern's drug-free workplace which encourages a safe, healthy, and productive work environment and strictly complies with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988. An employee shall not, in the workplace, unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess, or use a controlled substance or alcohol.



  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.



  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, pull, reach and lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb stairs several times a day.



  • Must adhere to agency's non-discrimination policies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Basic knowledge of pest control practices, specifically on Bed Bugs.



  • Have an active Oregon Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators Apprentice License (pay differential of 1.5% with active license).
