Principal Payroll Coordinator (Hybrid)

We are hiring a proactive, eager learner with an eye for process improvements to support our Time and Labor Processing Team. The Principal Payroll Coordinator will perform a wide variety of record keeping and processing activities to ensure associates' time entries are updated in the system and inputs to payroll processing are accurate. This role may also be asked to support the broader payroll operations function as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs daily tasks related to updating associates' time entries and processing of time entries.

  • Inspects automated system output for errors and makes necessary corrections to time entries in the system.

  • Reaches out to associates to ensure their time is entered/updated in the system before the deadline.

  • Assists other Capital One teams as required, to resolve errors and maintain or update accurate information in the payroll system.

  • Assists the Tier I contact center representatives in handling and following up on inquiries related to time entry

  • Performs a variety of regularly scheduled and ad-hoc audits of the time data to maintain compliance with established standards.

  • Performs other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance is required to be successful in this role and overtime may be required during critical production periods.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 6 months experience working with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

  • At least 1 year of experience managing customer inquiries

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree

  • Professional certification such as Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)

  • 6+ months of Payroll or Time & Attendance experience

  • 1+ years of accounting/payroll/benefits experience

  • 1+ years of customer service experience

  • 6+ months of experience with ADP

  • 6+ months of experience with Workday Time Tracking

  • 6+ months of experience with case management systems

  • Attention to detail and decision making skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Richmond, VA: $56,800 - $64,800 for Principal HR Coordinator

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
