About the Role:

As the assistant director of finance, you will oversee the finance department, developing strategies that work to minimize financial risk, and create pricing models and strategies that support the growth and financial sustainability of the organization. This role will be responsible for providing leadership and ensuring the accountability of your team to deliver exceptional service to internal and external clients. The assistant director of finance will operate under the executive direction of the chief financial officer with latitude for the exercise of independent action and decision making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop pricing models based that allow for sensitivity analysis in the decision-making process.
  • Review practices regarding cost elements to continually ensure appropriate allocation.
  • Predict future financial trends and advise on how the company and future business decisions might be impacted.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data and provide reports to leadership.
  • Work in conjunction with Controller to develop and implement accounting policies.
  • Prepare the company operating and capital budget by developing methods, models, and other decision support systems and establish timelines and deadlines to ensure the timely completion of those budgets.
  • Review, monitor, and manage company budget.
  • Review the daily, monthly, and yearly internal controls of the department.
  • Calculate and monitor indirect cost rate and prepare related schedules for annual incurred cost submission as required.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and optimize the company's financial resources to support operational needs and growth initiatives.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to drive operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Consult with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Provide training and instruction to all levels of leadership on financial and budget policies and accounting concepts.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Ensure that all company financial activities comply with legal requirements.
  • Hire, develop, and monitor department staff, including assisting with developing goals in furtherance of the annual performance review process.


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Experience establishing operational objectives, policies, procedures and work plans and delegates assignments to subordinates.
  • Ability to solve complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires conceptual thinking and an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of discretion and impact in decision making.
  • Understanding that decisions have a direct impact on results of the team.
  • Proven history of decision-making that supports and enhances overall business activities.
  • Able to regularly engage with lower and senior management across various functional areas, departments, and customers.
  • Capable of applying knowledge to influence stakeholders toward achieving desired departmental outcomes.
  • Display excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial and governmental regulations.
  • Expert skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint).
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of accounting, audit, corporate finance, budgets, and performance management.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of financial software with the ability to lead implementation changes.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified public accountant or certified management accountant designation.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with 10 years of experience in a related role, including four years of management experience. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.



The target base salary for this position is $139,558 - $191,892 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, education, location, and job-related qualifications.
