Job Description

The Kansas City Missouri site of the UMKC School of Pharmacy is looking for an experienced Office Support Assistant IV known for their problem-solving skills and ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships as work closely with and support faculty of the Division of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences as well as pharmacy students.

The Division of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences is dedicated to providing the highest quality and comprehensive graduate and professional education in drug delivery, physical pharmacy, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, synthetic medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry. With access to state-of-the-art equipment and surrounding resources, our students are well prepared to meet the latest challenges in groundbreaking research after graduating from the university, thus making a significant impact and contribution to society.

Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of follow-through and work ethic, and impeccable customer service skills to assist the Chair in maintaining a thriving, dynamic research and educational environment. Must be adaptable and flexible in an environment that is growing and changing daily.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain the Chair's calendar and event schedule
  • Assisting the Chair in scheduling regular activities within the Division
  • Maintain records for Divisional and related meetings
  • Assist with Divisional duties related to research and graduate support
  • Retrieve and produce correspondence, policies, and procedures for the DPPS office utilizing modern tools including MS Office, Box, Google Drive, and related tools
  • Gather, organize, and summarize information requested under the direction of the Divisional Chair for support of Divisional activities using current computer tools
  • Greet and provide information and assistance to Divisional and unit personnel and visitors
  • Provide service and support to visitor and Divisional and unit personnel using knowledge of office policies and procedures
  • Maintain a neat and professional office environment
  • Other related duties to assist the Chair and Division
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with office management and collaboration tools
  • Ability to hold and maintain a purchasing card
  • Previous experience working in an academic environment
Anticipated Hiring Range

$17.60 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
