Lab Technician I

Position Description:

Purpose

Under direct supervision, provide basic support to laboratory functions including maintenance, operation and inventory of equipment and supplies. Support research investigators as needed.

Primary Functions

* Provide clean and sterilized glassware for use in research lab.

* Operate and maintain a variety of basic lab equipment such as autoclaving.

* Make and supply media buffers and water to research areas as needed.

* Assist in organizing and setup lab supplies and equipment for individual research investigators.

* Assist with inventory and record of supplies.

* Participate in meetings with principle investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.

Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
