About Love and Money Center and HDFS at UGA:
The Love and Money Center for Relational and Financial Well-Being (
LMC) is an interdisciplinary unit of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and a leader in the growing field of financial
therapy. Our purpose is to support innovative clinical training, to facilitate outreach programs and low- to no-cost direct services that enhance the relational and financial health of individuals, couples, and families, and to support clinical research that explores these
intersections. The Love and Money Center supports two key programs within the College: the Couple and Family Therapy program (Department of Human Development and Family Science) and the Behavioral Financial Planning/Financial Therapy track (Department of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics). The Department of Human Development and Family Science provides leadership in the field via cutting-edge research, pedagogy, and service. We are an interdisciplinary program focusing on individual, relationship, and family development within diverse ecological contexts. Faculty research interests include infancy and childhood, adolescence and young adulthood, adult development and aging, parenting and caregiving, interpersonal relationships, health, and biobehavioral processes, diversity and culture, and contexts of human development. We have a vital program with over 540 undergraduate majors, 36 doctoral students, and 20 faculty operating in a collegial and supportive environment. Faculty in the department collaborate with numerous programs and institutions across campus including the Owens Institute for Behavioral Research, Center for Family Research, Bio-Imaging Research Center, Institute on Human Development and Disability, Institute of Gerontology, McPhaul Child Development Center, and
