Posting Summary
Our research group C- SOPS, Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate with expertise in process engineering tools, including process modeling, process control, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, to support ongoing proposal efforts in advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing. The successful candidate will develop innovative methodologies for data-driven analysis and process optimization, incorporating advanced modeling techniques and real-time analytics to enhance quality control and improve the efficiency of drug production. This position involves participating in interdisciplinary research projects, contributing to the writing of grant proposals, and collaborating closely with various industry and academic partners to bridge the gap between cutting-edge computational models and practical manufacturing workflows.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in process modeling, control, optimization, applied machine learning, and AI. Additionally, knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing, regulatory frameworks related to pharmaceutical processes, and an ability to design and execute experiments that comply with FDA standards is preferred. Familiarity with digital twins, large-scale data handling, and predictive modeling will be advantageous. The individual should demonstrate excellence in scholarly writing and communications, as they will be expected to prepare high-level manuscripts and presentations, engage in collaborative meetings that address regulatory challenges, and guide junior researchers in data acquisition and analysis. Prior experience with quality-by-design principles, advanced sensor technologies, or continuous manufacturing techniques will be welcomed. An eagerness to identify key issues in pharmaceutical research and develop practical solutions will be more important.
The position will be based in a supportive environment that encourages independent thinking, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and professional development. The candidate will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art laboratory instruments, manufacturing equipment, and computational resources, as well as opportunities to collaborate with materials science, process engineering, and regulatory affairs experts. The successful applicant will have access to a vibrant research community that fosters new ideas aimed at transforming pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. Candidates should have a doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as chemical or mechanical engineering, computer science, biomedical engineering, or a closely related discipline. Strong programming and statistical analysis skills are essential, and evidence of scholarly productivity is expected.
