Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving is a frontline fundraising professional responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing leadership annual gifts from Florida International University alumni, donors, and prospects. This individual contributor role plays a critical part in growing the FIU Annual Fund and developing the major gift pipeline by actively managing a portfolio of donors and prospects as well as supervising a team of frontline fundraisers.

Collaborates closely with the Major Gifts, Annual Fund, Research and Prospect management and Alumni Engagement teams to align efforts and drive joint strategies.

Supervise, train, and mentor a team of junior frontline fundraisers to identify, secure and steward leadership annual giving donations. Plans and implements individual giving program that includes measurable targets for each fiscal year (e.g. identification activities, personal visits, solicitations).

Manages a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects and donors. Documents contact and prospect moves, tracks progress using Raiser's Edge, and adheres to University Advancement prospect management guidelines and protocol.

Meets annual personnel contacts and fundraising goals as well as annual fundraising goals for the annual giving leadership team as jointly agreed by the Senior Director.

Monitors progress towards achieving revenue goals and works with the Senior Director to establish strategic cultivation plans for each assigned member of the portfolio, in furtherance of leadership annual giving priorities

Participates in regular prospect strategy and portfolio review sessions with internal frontline team.

Serves as a key liaison between the Frontline and Annual Giving teams to coordinate and collaborate across departments to identify opportunities for coordination and partnership to maximize fundraising success.

Works on special initiatives in support of leadership annual giving and university-wide priorities.

Presents the college's financial needs and funding goals articulately, persuasively, and with confidence.

Performs related duties as required or as directed.The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience in community relations, marketing, not-for-profit, annual giving, fundraising, or related environment.

Desired Qualifications

Must have at least 2 years of experience in direct solicitation for not-for-profit or a for-profit company

Demonstrated ability and documented record of individual solicitation success in the corporate, secondary, or higher education environment.

Complete understanding of philanthropic, sales or business development is required to perform effectively. Knowledge and understanding of various levels of philanthropy is preferred.
