Summary: The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, provides patient treatment and therapy by following an established plan of care directed and supervised by an OTR/L. Responsible for mentoring Assistants, Technicians, and Students. Collaborates with other healthcare team members and physicians in a multi-disciplinary fashion to deliver the highest quality of care. Participates in CQI activities. Facilitates the provision of excellent customer service. Responsibilities: Patients and families: Provide patient care and information. Address concerns and complaints. Project a positive image of the department and hospital. Physicians and other healthcare team members: Promote coordination of care. Address concerns and complaints. Community and Business: Provide education. Promote department and hospital. Other information: Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Associate degree from an Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT None LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION Current NC Board of Occupational Therapy license. Occupational Therapist Assistant license or eligible. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Analytical abilities to delegate personnel, problem solve with positive solutions. Good interpersonal and communication skills required to facilitate interactions with stated customers and staff members. WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, temperature changes and occasional noxious odors. Stressful work periods occasionally encountered. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT Standing for most of the day lifting/assisting patients with transfers, bed mobility and ambulation as well as their exercise programs.
