About the Job

The focus of this position will be to perform research related to the development of microbial diagnostic technologies, conduct cell cultures and maintain the BSL2 laboratory.

This is a temporary position for 3 months, beginning May 1, 2025.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

The researcher is expected to lead efforts or collaborate on research reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts for publication and invention disclosures, and participate in seminars national and international conferences when needed. The researcher is also invited to participate in, or initiate, further grant proposals to further fund this research. We also expect this person to be an active member in our full research team supporting all tasks as needed to support the research team. This includes providing training and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students in the lab and participation in all activities or meetings organized by the lab, or departmental activities where postdoc participation is required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • PhD Degree Bioengineering, analytical chemistry or related fields
  • The ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team, accountability for assigned tasks, and excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in analytical techniques such as PCR, LAMP, Gel electrophoresis.
  • Knowledge of experimental design, data management and analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Knowledge or experience with publishing peer-review scientific manuscripts

The Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering (bbe.umn.edu) is an internationally renowned academic unit with the core mission of sustainable use of renewable agricultural and natural resources, and protection and enhancement of the environment.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience
