Job Responsibilities

  • Under guidance from the MNSG Communications Director, implement the design, development, maintenance, and support of MNSG's primary program Drupal website and other project-specific (internally funded and grant-funded) websites.
  • Work with the MNSG Communications Director and other MNSG staff as assigned to develop accessible, informational, and typically grant-funded/grant-required project-specific websites and web applications.
  • Develop new website pages and features on Drupal installation as needed using PHP. Ensure the website meets all accessibility requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair website issues and serve as a liaison with internal teams as needed.
  • Develop website display/formats/functionalities (e.g., full-width page images, content) to meet web service requests from program and grant-funded projects.
  • Find and implement solutions for presenting scientific data to both scientific and non-scientific audiences effectively.
  • Work with project teams to develop robust sitemaps (menu structure) and improve website content.
  • Code websites and develop custom Wordpress templates using HTML / CSS / PHP / MySQL / JavaScript / JQuery. WordPress project-specific sites include:
    • Paddlesafetwinports.org
    • Hazmaton.org
    • Great Lakes Freshfishfinder.org
  • Develop and maintain accessible and dynamic web applications using client-side and server-side technologies.
  • Design user interfaces for web applications and respond to user feedback to improve user experiences
  • Collaboratively codes, tests, troubleshoots, and updates web applications using modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., PHP, JavaScript, Vue.js) and CSS frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Bulma).
  • Manages version control and collaborates on code development using GitHub.
