Essential Qualifications: Must be able to read and write competently in English. Must be able to follow detailed written work orders, plans and drawings. Technical education/training in mechanical maintenance totaling one year and one year of applicable work experience. Experience may be substituted for education. Positions may require the ability to walk or stand for majority of day; bend, climb, reach, kneel; carry, lift, push and pull 50 lbs. or more. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Able to prioritize workload demands to reflect urgency of tasks and customer needs. Able to organize multiple projects with conflicting deadlines. Preferred qualifications: Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. About the Department
The Student Unions & Activities (SUA), a department within the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Minnesota, includes three facilities. They are Coffman Memorial Union on the East Bank of the Mississippi River and its services on the West Bank and the St. Paul Student Center. The department has an annual budget of $16.8 million, including operating, capital and bond payments. SUA is funded by student fees and revenue generated by the department. The department is responsible for the oversight of student activities and provides a variety of programs and services to the University community including retail services and facility rental, space for individual and group activities, recreational opportunities, entertainment and educational programs, involvement with diverse student groups, and activities and programs that enhance the social, educational and cultural environment of the University of Minnesota. The department has a total of 65 fulltime staff, representing all employee groups except faculty and 250 student employees. SUA provides opportunities for students to enrich and complement their academic experience by integrating student learning outcomes with student employment. Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $22.98/hour - $26.87/hour depending on education/qualifications/experience. Posted salary range is the full range, however, salary will be offered per Teamsters contract requirements.
