DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Your role as a Chemistry Technician will be integral to the smooth operation of a DNA laboratory. You will be responsible for maintaining and calibrating instrumentation, ensuring the quality control of all supplies and materials, and managing the database functions. This work will require a high level of independence, as you will also be expected to perform quality assurance tasks and conduct in-house maintenance on laboratory equipment to meet both internal and external quality standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing and quality controlling quantification standards, which involves amplifying human and male DNA. Other duties include checking and maintaining temperature-sensitive equipment, as well as cleaning and sterilizing glassware and plastic. Finally, you will be responsible for receiving and inventorying tissue samples taken from individuals as part of legal offenses or for DNA databasing analysis. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: This position does not offer telework.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:
- Completion of 60 college credits including nine credits in chemistry.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
- This job title has been identified as performing critical duties. Prior to placement in this job title, the selected candidate regardless of their current job, must submit a report of medications for screening by the state police medical officer.
