The City of Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation Division is seeking a passionate and customer service-oriented Part-Time Program & Services Assistant who is committed to excellence in recreation programming!

The Part-Time Program & Services Assistant is eligible to receive a top of market compensation and a generous schedule of paid time off (PTO).


  • Hourly pay starts at $27.1795/hr
  • Pay increases every six (12) months and annually on July 1st

Position Summary

This Part Time Program & Services Assistant directly supports programming operations within the Parks & Recreation Senior Activity Center. The Program & Services Assistant must have a strong customer service disposition as job responsibilities require interaction with residents, vendors, and program participants while assisting at programs/events and servicing the Senior Center service counter. This individual must be proficient in a variety of office software applications to assist in completing job tasks, including the creation of program flyers and other marketing materials, utilizing the department's registration software, and for various reporting purposes. Programming is a high priority of the Parks & Recreation Division, and as such, the Part Time Program & Services Assistant must be organized and exceptional in multi-tasking to be successful.

Minimum Qualifications


  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of desktop publishing software.
  • Excellent organizational, written communication and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computer hardware and word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), and database management software.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • One or more years of experience working with the public preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of recreation database software preferred.
