Our Aviation Design Center leads the design for projects large and small across the Garver footprint and include scopes such as runway, taxiway, and apron rehabilitations, reconstructions, and/or extensions, airfield construction safety and phasing, safety area improvements, utility improvements, perimeter fencing, service road improvements, conceptual planning studies, terminal improvements, corporate hangar developments, and various landside improvements.
Garver's Tampa Aviation Design Center is looking for an Aviation Design Center Project Manager to help create design solutions for our aviation clients. The Aviation Design Center Project Manager will have the opportunity to lead the technical design of a wide array of aviation projects with various aviation clients, mentor junior engineers, and make significant contributions to Garver's growth momentum in the Florida aviation market. Your efforts in this role will be supported by an accountable, organized staff of experienced professionals. This position is suited to technically savvy engineers interested in a multitude of career growth pathways who thrive on collaborating with colleagues to create lasting, quality infrastructure and satisfied clients.
Responsibilities for this role include:


  • Serve as the design lead for airside and landside aviation projects at general aviation and commercial service airports throughout Florida and around the country.
  • Develop technical deliverables under the guidance of regional project managers and with the assistance of other technical experts. Technical deliverables include, but are not limited to: Construction Plans, Specifications, Design and Evaluation Reports, Permit Documents, and Cost Estimates.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets and schedules in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients and regional Garver Aviation teams on project requirements and status updates.
  • Lead a small team of engineers and provide technical guidance and oversight.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers on technical design, communication, collaboration, and leadership.
  • Engagement in Industry Events and Committees


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, preferably with aviation project experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Proficient in design software packages such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AviPlan, and other aviation specialty programs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with both internal employees and external clients
  • Some travel may be required (approximately 5% with occasional overnight)


Preferred Skills


  • Previous experience working with a multi-disciplined team while overseeing project execution
  • Experience in construction administration for development projects at airports
  • Licensed pilot or other aviation-related experience
