Job Summary:



Pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT-CT services in the supervision of advance practice providers, fellows, residents, and medical students in organizing each day's inpatient rounds, outpatient clinics, procedures, and family conferences. The schedule is such that there is dedicated time for academic activity in Clinical, Translational research, or Laboratory research related to Leukemia/Lymphoma, or other interests as developed by the candidate and agreed upon by the Section leadership. Distribution of effort between clinical activities in the inpatient and outpatient setting, research efforts and/or program development activities will be determined based on the interests and funding for the individual candidate.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide independent care of pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT-CT patients on the inpatient hospital service and in the outpatient clinic and infusion center focused on Leukemia/Lymphoma patients
  • Communicate with referring physicians and other providers regarding shared patients on Hem/Onc/BMT-CT service and in the institution
  • Lead Hem/Onc/BMT-CT advance practice providers (APPs: physician's assistants and nurse practitioners) in the care of both inpatients and outpatients
  • Provide education and supervision to medical students, residents and fellows in the inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Write admission, discharge, acute care, and chemotherapy orders in collaboration with other physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Provide coordination of care between the inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Participate in the treatment of patients on clinical research protocols in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology/BMT-CT
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary care with other hospital and outpatient services
  • Coordinate and assist with education of new patients and families
  • Participate in Quality/Safety, Process Improvement and Community Outreach and Engagement initiatives and activities
  • Provide educational support to nursing and other staff*

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor



  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Active Colorado state license and DEA certification.
  • Board Certified or Board eligible after completion of an ACGME accredited pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship.
  • If Board-eligible, must pass American Board of Pediatrics sub-specialty exam in pediatric hematology/oncology within 30 months of hire date.
  • Once Board certified, active and continuous certification from the American Board of Pediatrics, sub-board of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
  • Meet all Children's Hospital Colorado credentialing requirements.


Associate Professor



  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Continuous Maintenance of Certification is required.
  • Active Colorado state license and DEA certification.
  • Training and expertise in pediatric Hematology, Oncology and/or BMT-CT; Minimum 6 years of professional experience in clinical setting.
  • Active and continuous certification from the American Board of Pediatrics, sub-board of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
  • Meet all Children's Hospital Colorado credentialing requirements.


Condition of Employment:



  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
  • Continuous active medical staff status

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in independent care of pediatric hematology/oncology/BMT patients for at least one year after completion of categorical pediatric hematology/oncology Fellowship training.
  • Pediatric leukemia/lymphoma-focused subspecialty training preferred (can substitute for a year of experience listed above).
  • Record of sustained independent funding of clinical research or laboratory work if protected time for research is expected, with preference given to candidates who have secured at least one cycle of renewed funding if research protection is requested.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to independently diagnose, treat, care for, and manage complex Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT patients in a highly specialized, academic setting, including coordination of care with other hospital services, both in and outside the institution.
  • Experience managing patients on clinical research trials, including Good Clinical Practice, and Human Subjects Research compliance and training.
  • High professionalism, customer service skills, team-based patient care, and ability to meet productivity targets are expected.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $181,100 to $205,573

Associate Professor: $223,000 to $270,549

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
