If you are a Structural Engineer aiming to grow your career within buildings / vertical structural design engineering, then our Lead Structural Engineer PE opportunity will provide you with a fulfilling position having you take full ownership of our West Coast Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, Life Science structural design projects, while we continue to grow our Buildings Structural Engineering team on the West Coast around you. This is a full-time remote opportunity, however - we are seeking a candidate that is based close to a West Coast NV5 office (San Diego, CA; Irvine, CA; Walnut Creek, CA; Sacramento, CA; Long Beach, CA).



Responsibilities

As our Lead Structural Engineer PE, you will be hands-on with technical design of buildings projects, provide leadership and mentorship to a growing team, oversee multiple projects simultaneously including budgeting, scheduling, and client management & communication. You will also work independently and take ownership of our West Coast Buildings Group's success. Attend project sites and client meetings.



Qualifications

If you possess the following experience & qualifications, we encourage you to apply:

    B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, M.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the state of California. A PE license in the state of Washington is a plus.
  • 8+ years of relevant structural design engineering experience (Concrete, Steel, Masonry, Wood).
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and standards specific to the West Coast, especially seismic considerations.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Revit, RAM Products, ETABS, StructurePoint, ENERCALC).
  • Knowledge of building codes and, standards and construction practices is required. Litigation experience is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.

The pay range for this California position is $145,000. To $175,000 annual salary; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
