This role of this position is to provide administrative leadership and supervision to projects at the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). This position oversees and problem solves operational aspects of human subject clinical research in conjunction with the project teams and in accordance with standard operating procedures and good clinical practices and human subject regulations. The position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the assigned clinical research programs including regulatory and clinical operations. Works directly with the executive leadership to establish departmental goals and objectives. Has significant responsibility to achieve broadly stated goals through subordinate team members. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets. The incumbent must be able to function with autonomy, maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal professionally with UC administrators, faculty, clinic personnel, staff, physicians and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Will be required to have driver's license and automobile to travel to other UCD locations and study sites in Northern California
- Master's degree in related field or equivalent experience working in a healthcare research environment.
- At least 2 years of experience supervising staff in a clinical research setting
- Demonstrated project management skills. Able to manage multiple priorities, prioritize projects, and meet the demands of a dynamic research environment.
- Experience managing and training people in the field of research. Experience setting performance standards.
- Experience in budget development for research proposals, contract and grant development, rules and regulations for extramural funding, accounting principles and financial analysis.
- Experience translating grant proposals into research protocols.
- Experience recruiting, interviewing and hiring employees.
- Experience organizing and coordinating administrative and research activities for multiple ongoing and planned projects.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a self-motivated and team-oriented leader, work independently with minimal supervision, organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines for a variety of assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and edit questionnaires, create and use survey mailing schedules, create data files, supervise data entry, analyze data, and report findings.
- Ability to effectively interpret and communicate UCD and UCDMC Policy and Procedures, and other guidelines to faculty, staff and students.
- Ability to anticipate problems, problem solve using good judgment and common sense, gather input and evaluate the available options prior to making decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with researchers and staff from various disciplines and organizations in conducting research and administrative duties.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and lead teams, mentor, problem solve and motivate others to achieve common goals. Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills, with experience in writing reports.
- Knowledge of the research and the research proposal process.

Department Overview
The Department of Neurology conducts basic and clinical research on the nervous system and provides clinical care for people with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, epilepsy, movement disorders like Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases, tremor, dystonia, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions, headache and sleep disorders.
Our faculty includes leading neuroscientists, who work to expand our knowledge of nervous system function, as well as neurologists and psychologists who provide diagnosis and treatment for adults and children. We partner with colleagues from throughout the health system and work closely with the Department of Neurological Surgery to provide multidisciplinary team management for neurological disorders. We also offer cutting-edge diagnostic approaches, including advanced neuroimaging technologies and access to trials of new medications and other therapeutic modalities.
Department Specific Job Scope
The successful candidate will have experience conducting multiple research projects across multiple sites and with individuals of every level. Preference will be given to applicants that have demonstrated experience applying research management skills in clinical settings. The successful candidate will have familiarity with the policies and regulations related to clinical research. Work is performed independently and with decision-making responsibilities under minimal consultative direction of the Principal Investigators and ADRC Administration Team.
This position will provide clinical research oversight and management expertise for staff working on multiple large federally funded research studies including KHANDLE, Life After 90 and STAR studies and the ADRC P30 center research program at the East Bay site under the direction of the study PIs and ADRC Center Administrator. This position will oversee the development of study protocols and ensure IRB compliance with clinical research study protocols involving human subjects. This position will oversee operational aspects of the studies in conjunction with their project teams and in accordance with standard operating procedures and good clinical practices and regulations. They will be responsible for managing the facilitation of clinical evaluations, recruitment, scheduling, subject transportation, autopsy, and data tracking and reporting. They will also work with the department finance personnel to assign resources and select vendors for the studies.
