Role: Release Engineer

Location: Hybrid Chicago IL.

Duration: Full Time only - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Deployments and Sprint Release Meetings, ensuring all collaborators are aligned on timelines and tasks. Develop and implement strategies for branch merging to handle multiple simultaneous projects, keeping projects separate while handling integration efficiently. Merge branches into deployment branches during the sprint release process, ensuring smooth, conflict-free integration. Resolve merge conflicts quickly, ensuring no delays to the deployment schedule. Daily monitoring of deployments across various environments (IntDev, PreQA), ensuring all environments are in sync and reviewing deployment progress. Supervise Bitbucket branches according to the established release process to maintain version control and avoid deployment issues. Complete destructive plan runs as required during sprint deployments, ensuring clean environments for code deployments. Generate and review Code Coverage Reports and implement Apex test scripts across PreQA, QA, and Production environments, ensuring all code changes are thoroughly tested before reaching production. Review the staging of deployments one day before production releases, ensuring the release process is thoroughly vetted before deployment. Prepare release observation documents to bring together any anomalies or issues noticed during releases for future improvements. Work closely with the architect and SQA teams to prepare, review, and maintain all QA and production release documentation, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements. Lead and organize the execution of QA and Production Releases, ensuring all changes are deployed accurately, and all systems remain stable post-release.

Salesforce Seasonal Release Activities

  • Prepare Salesforce Seasonal Release Readiness Plans, outlining key tasks, schedules, and responsibilities for each seasonal release. Schedule and lead meetings with Product Owners (POs) and Developers, ensuring the entire team is advised of all updates and tasks related to the Salesforce seasonal release. Set up new regression sandboxes for seasonal releases, enabling proper testing and loading of test data. Conduct deployments to regression SBX for each Salesforce seasonal release, ensuring all changes are thoroughly tested before being pushed to production. Collaborate with POs and SQA teams to verify that all seasonal releases meet functional and non-functional requirements. work with POs to ensure that Seasonal Verification Processes are correctly documented and receive the vital approvals. Lead with Salesforce admins to run seasonal release smoke tests within the production environment, ensuring no issues arise post-release.

Salesforce Admin Responsibilities:

  • Notice and handle the onboarding process for new developers, ensuring they have the correct access and knowledge of the environment. Handle sandbox environment management across the organization, including developer and trial sandboxes, ensuring environments are available for testing and development. Complete and maintain sandbox refresh activities across IntDev, PreQA, and QA environments on a regular basis (yearly or as the need arises).Access and Audit Controls. Run monthly health checks and generate reports on the Salesforce environment's performance, identifying any areas for improvement. Handle Salesforce access requests, ensuring that new users are properly onboarded with the correct permissions. Perform Salesforce audit trail report reviews on a monthly basis, covering QA and Production environments, ensuring compliance with security policies. Prepare for quarterly CRQ process reviews, adhering to internal audit recommendations. Lead JIRA stories for Salesforce admin tasks, ensuring alignment with sprint release cycles. Maintain the JIRA admin board for sprint and release tasks, ensuring clear communication and tracking of tasks. Deactivate inactive users based on bi-weekly reviews, ensuring proper security controls are in place. Salesforce System and Support. Handle Contact Merge requests for Salesforce applications, resolving any data discrepancies efficiently. Perform regular Salesforce critical updates and reviews to maintain system stability and ensure that all required updates are installed. Run Salesforce support case, working with internal teams to fix issues effectively. Maintain backup processes for production environments through SharePoint, ensuring data is stored securely and can be restored when needed. Regularly review and handle data import/export activities. Integration and System Teamwork. Handle integration with connected apps, lead with internal and external teams to resolve any integration issues. Work closely with SAP, Oracle, ETL, and DataPower teams to ensure data synchronization and integration workflows run smoothly. Install and configure apps from the Salesforce AppExchange as needed, ensuring they meet business requirements.

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field of study

Salary and compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $129,500.00 - $152,000.00 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plan
