Job Summary:

This position supports the McNair Scholars Program's mission to prepare first generation college students, low-income students and underrepresented student to apply, enroll and complete graduate education (Master's and PhD).

Job Description:

This grant-funded position reports to the Program Director and is responsible for: identifying and documenting eligibility requirements of participants; academic counseling and guidance in matters which impact Scholars' application to graduate school; dissemination of materials about financial aid, post baccalaureate institutions, and other information related to graduate and doctoral programs; needs assessment and individual education plans; documentation of all Program activities; referral of Scholars to support services as needed. In addition, this position assists the Program Director with: recruitment, screening of applicants, off campus trips, summer research placement, organization of workshops, reporting and administration of the program activities.

Minimal Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree.

2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)

3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

Additional education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization:

Departmental Prefernces: Qualifications for this position include a BA or BS degree and experience working in higher education with a diverse undergraduate population. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, strong writing skills, three years of counseling, advising and/or mentoring diverse students. Experience using databases to produce reports and experience coordinating events and activities that enrich students' academic preparation.

This position requires a background check.

Salary Range

45,000.00
