Job Description

The Division of Student Affairs is reimagining how best to serve Mizzou's student population. We are committed to designing exceptional co-curricular experiences to help all Mizzou students succeed on campus and after graduation.

As part of this process, the Center for Student Involvement is seeking a collaborative, student-centered professional to fill the role of Coordinator for Student Organization and serve as the co-advisor for programs and services associated with the Organization Resource Group (ORG). Programs and services for this Coordinator position include, but are not limited to, allocation of Student Activity Fee funding for Student Organizations, training, advisor resources, and event registration. This position is responsible working alongside the other Coordinator for Student Organizations to hire, train, and supervise approximately 5 student employees. Additionally, this position will serve as a resource to student organization leaders and aid in the development of leadership, risk management, event planning, and other skills necessary to support student organization leaders who complement the academic mission through educational, social, and recreational experiences that encourage student engagement, sense of belonging, and affiliation with MU.

This full-time professional staff position will report directly to the Associate Director for Student
Engagement, Leadership & Service within the Division of Student Affairs.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provide guidance for student organization funding processes, including but not limited to, allocation of the Student Activity Fee for Student Organizations (ORG Funding), Welcome Week Student Organization Events, Missouri Students Association (MSA) Funding for Recognized Student Organizations.
    • Review and revise student organization funding processes to ensure accessibility, clarity, consistency, and compliance with relevant University policies and best practices.
    • Maintain accurate fiscal records of process, allocations, and spending in MU Engage and University fiscal platforms.
    • Coordinate contracts, make purchases, process reimbursements, and review spending for organizations allocated funding.
    • Ensure student leaders and departments are in compliance with University fiscal policies and procedures.
    • Provide monthly allocation reports regarding student organization allocations and spending.
  • Advise, assist, and train student leaders and organization advisors on issues and policies affecting student organizations and various aspects of organization and event operations including, but not limited to, use of University facilities, development and interpretation of the organization's constitution, event planning and management, budgeting and fiscal management, risk management.
    • Create and implement tiered risk management resources and training.
    • Create and maintain an event registration process for Recognized Student Organizations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs (may include workshops, conferences, online resources, and individual consultations) for student organization advisors including, but not limited to, leadership development, event planning, budgeting, goal setting, learning outcomes, program evaluation, and officer transitions.
  • Co-advise and support Organization Resource Group (ORG) students; facilitate one-on-one meetings and coordinate assigned departmental programs and events.
  • Serve as a resource and provide general assistance to students, faculty, and staff on various issues affecting student organizations and events at the University.
  • Assist with greater departmental programming efforts and initiatives for the campus community including but not limited to Tap Day, Welcome Week, and Fall and Winter Involvement Weeks.
  • Research and assist with the development, assessment, and maintenance of a robust student organization classification system.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a wide range of University offices and departments, including but not limited to MizzouRec, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Accountability and Support, and the Office of Reservations & Events.
  • Assist with assessment efforts to measure student engagement, sense of belonging and affiliation with MU. Utilize assessment data to make continuous program improvements.
  • Serve on departmental and divisional committees as needed.
  • As with all positions, other duties and responsibilities are expected to enhance and maintain our departmental and Student Affairs mission.
Shift

8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday (40 hours per week).

This position will require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

  • Must possess a philosophy of student development and the ability to problem-solve.
  • Be highly creative and possess energy and enthusiasm to elicit the support and participation of students.
  • Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail.v
  • Have a positive and friendly disposition, possess flexibility, and effective communication skills
  • Can take initiative and to work independently.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends and be a team player.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.50 - $26.00 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis
