The Operating Room Manager for the Operating Room is responsible for providing oversight of daily operations within their managed area. They provide leadership for formal and informal leaders within their span of control, assuring timely, safe, effective, direct and indirect patient - family centered care throughout the continuum of surgical care in the operating room.
Department Overview
Perioperative Services at UC Davis Health encompasses multiple Operating Rooms, Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Units, and Sterile Processing Departments, across the UC Davis Health Campus. Surgical care is provided across the entire life spectrum, includes a wide range of inpatient and ambulatory surgical specialties, including (but not limited to: ACS Level 1 Trauma, Bariatric, Burn, Cardiac, Colorectal, Endocrine, ENT, Gynecology, comprehensive Neurosurgery, Oncologic, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Trauma, comprehensive Orthopedic (Spine, Foot & Ankle, Hand & Hand Trauma), Otolaryngology, Pain, Plastics, Robotics, Thoracic, Transplant, Vascular, , Urology, and Uro-Gyn. Additionally, our Children's Surgery Center provides comprehensive surgical care in the full-range of surgical specialties in an age-appropriate setting.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR Certification
- CNOR within 1 year of hire
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing (RN to Master's Bridge Program in lieu of BSN may be considered qualifying)
- Master's degree
- Minimum of two (2) years' of nursing management experience.
- Three (3) years workforce experience leading, managing and developing a large interdisciplinary team or department including performance management, corrective action, setting staff and department goals and expectations.
- Five (5) years of operating room nursing experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and develop a team of nursing professionals, with experience in performance evaluations, staff development, team collaboration, and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated experience managing daily operations of a nursing unit, including staff scheduling, resource allocation, and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and protocols. Proven track record in implementing quality improvement initiatives, leading to measurable outcomes.
- Experience in resource management and budgeting. Proficiency in developing and updating unit policies and procedures to align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately

- Ability to handle difficult, sensitive problems and situations in a timely, effective manner. Ability to problem solve with creative ideas.

- Skills and ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, internal and external clients.

Preferred Qualifications
- CNOR Certification upon hire
- Two years Clinical and Supervisory Experience at Level 1 Trauma Center
- Two years Clinical and Supervisory Experience at an Academic Medical Center
- Experience working in a Magnet Designated Hospital Setting
- Experience in training and mentoring staff
- Experience in managing multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit
- Experience using the electronic medical record, EPIC preferred.

Work Environment
