Your role with us

Salem Health Inpatient Rehabilitation is currently seeking a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) to become a valued member of our inpatient rehab team. Our COTAs play an integral role in the planning and implementation of occupational therapy services and discharge planning. As part of our team, you are encouraged and supported as you broaden your professional knowledge by working closely with other therapy providers, care managers, allied health specialists, physicians, and advanced practice providers. You will have the opportunity to engage in growth and development using annual continuing education/paid days off and ongoing mentorship. Our Inpatient rehab team at Salem Health provides intensive therapy (3 hours per day, 5 days out of the week) with patients who have experienced stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation and other rehabilitation diagnosis.

What you'll do
  • Deliver safe, effective therapy by carrying out treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate observations and recommendations to support plan adjustments
  • Collaborate with the care team to identify patient needs, address barriers, and support discharge planning
  • Educate and involve patients and families in therapy activities and discharge preparation
  • Complete timely, accurate documentation and billing that reflects skilled care and patient outcomes
  • Maintain clinical competence and complete all required annual training and certifications
  • Manage daily caseload efficiently, supporting team productivity and adapting to changing department needs
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to rehab aides and assist in coordinating daily workflow
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and support a culture of continuous quality care
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, licensure, and documentation standards
Background/experience
  • Certificate of Completion - Graduate of an occupational therapist assistant training program approved by the Committee on Accreditation in Education of the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant License - with the State of Oregon. License must be verified prior to start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Be a team player and have proven success applying team approach to obtain resolution to an issue.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills for working with the rehabilitation team and patients.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to change while working in high volume multidisciplinary setting.
  • Lead small groups, ability to divide attention.
  • Demonstrates competency by implementing age culturally sensitive, and developmentally appropriate treatment plans and by appropriate documentation.
