Summary:

Works with the field to educate, train and provide sales support on multiple insurance topics. The primary interactions with the field will take place through inbound phone calls where financial representatives and/or staff will have questions on how products work or a case consultation to walk through a specific client situation. Additional field training takes place through outbound calls, requested 1x1's, delivering webinars, supporting Home Office schoolsand possibility of travel to Network Offices. The goal of the Sr Specialist is to support financial representatives integrate insurance into their current practices. Integration is essential to the success of advisors and their clients.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Educate and provide sales support to the field via inbound calls on risk products design including product features and benefits, running illustrations and how to best use NM supported sales software.
  • Offer needs-based solutions and alternatives that are suitable for Financial Representatives and their clients.
  • Consult on most fundamental industry topics with the skill and knowledge to enter into a more complex subject matter.
  • Educatethe field on competitive product landscape including the ability to compare and contrast competitor products.
  • Participate in proactive sales campaigns by making outbound calls to educate the field on new products and planning initiatives that will help them grow sales. Interaction may be limited to certain practice management models.
  • Assist in delivering educational information to the field through in-house speaking events focused on fundamental product and planning topics.
  • May be invited to participate in small project efforts as a SME to provide information, requirements and/or analysis to guide the decision-making process.
  • Work Cross-Functionally with business partners across CD and other functions to drive field planning adoption

Knowledge, skills, & abilities:

  • B.S. degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field desired or a minimum of 2 years' experience in a financial services environment focused on presenting, educating, and selling audiences on a variety of financial products.
  • Series 6 registration is required for duties related to variable life and annuity products and/or mutual funds (to be obtained in a designated period).
  • Health and Life license (to be obtained in a designated period)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of financial services products and application relative to planning and products.
  • Excellent knowledge of one or two specific insurance (Life, DI - Disability Income, LTC - LONG TERM CARE, Group Life/DI) products desired.
  • Excellent ability to meet the expectations and needs of customers through delivering suitable recommendations.
  • Effective demonstration and application of sales consultation skills; "ask relevant, open-ended questions to engage the caller, discuss needs and concerns and validate solutions based on those needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver clear and smooth presentations; carry self well in a group setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand a business sales cycle and has a sales growth mind set.
  • Desired but not required: Designations (CLU, ChFC, CASL, RICP, CFP etc.)

This position has been classified as a Registered Representative under NMIS guidelines and requires fingerprinting.

Pay Range - Start:

$59,150.00

Pay Range - End:

$109,850.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
