DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role functions as a Purchasing Agent within the Bureau of Support Services, where the incumbent will engage in comprehensive tasks related to purchasing and contracting services, adhering to established policies, regulations, procedures, and legal frameworks. The responsibilities encompass meticulous purchasing activities, which include evaluating requisitions, drafting bid documents, assessing and awarding bids, as well as preparing contracts and purchase orders. All tasks must comply with the Commonwealth's purchasing laws and the relevant policies of both the Commonwealth and the Department. The position necessitates effective communication with requisitioners, vendors, receivers, and various fiscal and purchasing personnel from district offices, the Bureau of Office Services, the Comptroller's Office, and the Office of Chief Counsel. Additionally, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for preparing purchasing documentation for various bureaus, including Driver and Vehicle Services, Bureau of Driver Licensing, Bureau of REAL ID, Bureau of Support Services, Program Management Office, and Risk Management Office. This includes ensuring all necessary attachments are included, managing routing processes, and maintaining a tracking log. Once the documentation receives final approval, the agent will distribute copies to the relevant parties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • This position may be eligible for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
