ABOUT THE ROLE: Performs high complexity medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. YOUR ROLE WOULD ENCOMPASS:

- Serves as Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA)-defined General Supervisor, and/or oversees other laboratory staff members' performance of laboratory tests according to laboratory standards, policies and procedures in a timely thorough manner and performs all laboratory procedures in all functional areas within the laboratory.
- Analyzes test results and enters data into the computer using laboratory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Performs and analyzes quality control measures to ensure accurate clinical data; analyzes unacceptable quality control results and troubleshoots shifts or trends as necessary.
- Performs venipunctures, capillary collections, and arterial punctures.
- Maintains competency and proficiency on all laboratory instrumentation and procedures; performs and documents preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment, troubleshooting problems as needed; supports comparison and analysis of new tests and instruments. Notifies immediate supervisory personnel of equipment/instrument issues and calls Service regarding issues.
- Communicates with clients, coworkers, and leadership by transmitting patient care testing and results, appropriate ideas, information and opinions clearly, concisely and courteously; maintains employee, patient, client and corporate confidentiality.
- Performs general housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe work environment; maintains adequate supplies in the work area.
- Assists with ensuring that day-to-day laboratory duties are completed accurately within associated Medical Clinics.
- Participates in cross training new employees, students, other technical staff and support staff; evaluates students' clinical and technical abilities; assists in writing training guidelines and checklists for new hires and students.
- Works collaboratively with all laboratory staff to ensure completion of testing and communication of necessary information to assist testing completion.
- Completes all mandatory safety, infection control, laboratory and Medical Center training and follows guidelines per written protocols.
- Assists in reviewing, revising and writing laboratory procedures.
- Uses quality improvement processes, programs or outcomes to help improve department operations, assists with LEAN projects.
- Performs service excellence must-haves to achieve an excellent patient/customer experience.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES (PROVEN PERFORMANCE IN):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science which includes clinical rotation as part of the program OR Bachelors in Science in a related field and an additional year of MT/MLS clinical rotation required AND meets the requirements for and is eligible for or has acquired the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification as an MLS as outlined on the ASCP website OR American Medical Technologists (AMT) OR International Society for Clinical Laboratory Technologists (ISLCT) OR equivalent is acceptable.
- Basic knowledge in phlebotomy and phlebotomy procedures is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification completed within three (3) months of hire required.
- Per leader's discretion - if assigned to drive Bryan-owned vehicles - Valid driver's license and verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.
