Description

The ASC Billing Coordinator is responsible for verifying eligibility and benefits for multiple surgery centers, entering patient payments, and a variety of administrative tasks including supporting mailing processes. In addition, position will be part of the customer service team to support patient calls on insurance and accept payments over phone.

This is a full-time role, 8:30-5:00 M-F out of our Bloomington office.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure professional communication over the phone, via email, or other written documentation and respond to all inquiries
  • Maintain a working knowledge of health care plan requirements and health plan networks
  • Work within our systems to verify insurance to ensure timely payment by payers.
  • Scan and fax documents for the Billing and Reimbursement departments
  • Contact both patients and vendors for information and communication regarding benefits
  • Add on or emergent verifications via email
  • Outbound calls to research insurance verifications
  • Incoming customer service calls
  • Incoming calls to receive payments
  • Return mail
  • Posting patient payments
  • Support paper processes within the office
  • Back-up coverage for team
  • Any and all other duties as assigned



Education and Experience Requirements:



  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Administrative experience preferred
  • Accounting and/or cash drawer balancing experience preferred

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
  • Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance
  • Work in the office during business hours
  • Travel independently throughout the office (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
  • Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
  • Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
  • Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
  • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Understand and execute a variety of instructions
  • Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Travel to other work locations, if required
