Job Summary
The Patient Safety Analyst, under the direction of the Vice Chair of Radiology Research, the Radiology Clinical Research Manager, and the Executive Director of the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC) Office of Clinical Research (OCR) will perform a wide range of analytic, technical, and professional duties. This part-time position will serve as the first point of contact for all departments conducting research utilizing radiology imaging. Work is performed independently with decision-making responsibility and judgement. Incumbent is a healthcare professional with an advanced technical background in an advanced imaging modality and must have the ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of research regulatory policies and procedures as well as a willingness to cooperate as a team member. Incumbent is responsible for analysis, evaluation, feasibility, and coordination of research projects requiring radiology imaging through the processing of Radiological Services Request (RSRs) forms. Duties include preparing regulatory documents related to radiological procedures, assistance with financial aspects of research using our self-supporting rates, and at all times must be HIPAA compliant. They will function as the point of contact for any radiologic research including that which uses MINT Medical for imaging research, offers nuclear medicine as a modality, has experimental use of any radioactive isotope, and/or uses imaging (PET, CT, MRI) as determined by the study Principal Investigator(s) and the OCR in the course of the study. Primary work location is in Sacramento at UC Davis Health Medical Center. - At least one of the following ARRT (MR), ARRT (CT), ARRT (N).
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Review proposed research project protocols to determine radiology imaging roles and responsibilities.
- Comply with and adhere to UCDH Policies and Procedures as well as Department of Radiology protocols, policies and procedures, and other applicable work rules and regulations.
- Maintain safe operation of imaging equipment and accessories, reviewing QC and good reporting techniques.
- Possess the knowledge and ability to describe and discuss multiple advanced modality scanners and auxiliary equipment for assigned modality.
- Knowledge of PACS.
- Must be able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as the field of radiology advances.
- Advanced technical knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and ability research imaging protocols.
- Working knowledge of medical imaging platforms and databases associated with Imaging research (REDCap, RAVE, MINT Medical, IROC, etc.)
- Knowledge of research regulations related to radiological services.
- Possess a working knowledge of regulations at the local, state, and federal related to radiology/imaging research.
- Knowledge and understanding of radiology as applied to clinical research.
- Required to work occasional overtime as work demands and at various locations, including EMIC and main hospital based on operational needs.
- Required to travel on occasion to and from UCD Health and EMIC site, and for training and educational purposes to other locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- All research personnel conducting human subjects research under the auspices of UC Davis must be certified via the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program.
- Analytical skills to evaluate information, practices and procedures, formulate logical and objective conclusions and make recommendations for effective solutions.
- Possess oral communication and interpersonal skills to effectively correspond with the general public, co-workers, physicians, patients, caregivers, clinic staff and other health care professionals.
