Candidates can expect to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop next generation life science instruments. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop mechanical systems, be responsible for mechanical aspects of instruments and sub-assemblies working in conjunction with Optics, Electrical, Firmware and Microfluidic engineers. Candidates will be responsible for building, testing, verifying and maintaining mechanical aspects of design.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Work with scientists, biologists, engineers, software developers, project managers, and marketing staff to develop product requirements, specifications, qualification tests, and other project documentation in a team focused environment requiring listening and cooperation.
  • Develop mechanical solutions by designing components, creating assemblies, procuring parts, and authoring assembly instructions. Perform thermal/structural/CFD modeling and analysis of components and systems.
  • Assemble and test engineering prototypes alongside a diverse R&D team to validate research and correlate mechanical models.
  • Perform root-cause investigations on systems and components to correct problems and improve product quality and reliability.
  • Perform risk analysis and inform risk-based decision making.
  • Generate and release engineering documentation (assembly procedures, installation instructions, test reports, design reviews etc.) to support the development and manufacture of world class life science instruments.
  • Design parts and assemblies using SolidWorks and other tools. Analyze and Verify designs. Transfer finished designs to Manufacturing.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and instrument production staff. Act as technical expert during product releases and sustaining activities.
  • Prepare and give presentations. Write, present, and/or be active in design reviews.
