Dean of Engineering

Job Description

Join a dynamic team to make a difference in the lives of donors to the College of Engineering and the University of Missouri. The Senior Advancement Associate will be a strong collaborator in a team-oriented office charged with donor engagement and securing philanthropic gift support. The Advancement Associate plays a key role in coordination of donor engagement by the College Dean and other faculty leaders, management of advancement-related events and donor stewardship processes, and overseeing business functions.

This position will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepare itineraries provided to alumni and donors making campus visit, and itineraries for faculty and fundraising directors' donor visits. Using templates and the CRM database, prepare donor visit briefings to support faculty members' and fundraiser directors' donor engagement. Contribute to calendar maintenance. Sustain coordination with staff in the Offices of the Dean and Department Chairs.
  • Manage scholarship stewardship process in collaboration with central donor relations. Utilize online portal to review and ensure quality of content provided to supporters of scholarships in the College of Engineering.
  • Utilize CRM to develop data to inform donor engagement efforts, steward current donors and track fundraising progress. Manage a segment of gift acknowledgements in coordination with central Advancement Donor Relations; contribute to donor impact reports. Collaborate with Engineering College Communications and Advancement Donor Relations to accomplish communications objectives for alumni and other constituencies within and outside of Missouri.
  • Oversee timelines and logistics related to volunteer and advisory organizations including the Dean's Advisory Council, Engineering Alumni Organization, and Engineering College's participation in university-wide events including Homecoming, Donor Recognition Weekend, Athletics Suites. Use Excel and CRM to track invitations, RSVPs, scheduling, organization. Participate in onsite management of selected events.
  • Carry out projects in coordination with Advancement Annual Fund, esp. Giving Day in the spring; assist in management of interaction with the Engineering Foundation, an organization of volunteers which is separate from MU. Coordinate with Advancement on management of Giving Societies.
  • Serve as liaison for fundraising activity by student organizations, including managing the Give Direct Page process. Represent Advancement at the Student Organization Meeting in the College of Engineering.
  • Maintain a portfolio of donors in permanent stewardship status.
  • Fiscal responsibilities include processing travel expenses, invoicing, credit card purchases and reconciliation, processing vendor payments and reimbursements.
  • Handle general donor/alumni queries and other duties as needed.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and capacity to organize and manage projects in a complex, matrixed organizational environment. Candidates' writing skills and attention to detail are additional key elements of the role.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.
  • Must be able to expertly handle sensitive, confidential and/or complicated information and use judgement to communicate to and within the team and/or necessary parties.
  • Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills and high attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license is required as there may be local travel associated with these responsibilities.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $21.28 - $29.00 per hour
Grade: GGS-009
