The previously determined salary range for this position is $22.92 to $27.00.

This position is located on the Peoria campus 170 miles southwest of Chicago. (On-Site Work - Not Remote).

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) educates 265 medical students and more than 300 physician residents and fellows annually. Additionally, it provides clinical care to more than 31,000 patients annually and conducts basic science, clinical and outcomes research. UICOMP is a regional campus of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, a part of the University of Illinois Chicago and University of Illinois System. Position Summary

Under direction, this position is responsible for coordinating medical student activities in the department and supporting faculty activities related to medical student education. This includes but is not limited to the M3 rotation and the M3and M4 electives (both the Acute Care and the Advance and Simulation electives). Faculty support activities include but are not limited to Ethic/Professionalism, M4 Intern Prep and Ultrasound Training. The incumbent will anticipate and provide highly specialized administrative support to the Director of Medical Student Education, the Assistant Director of Medical Student Education and faculty of the Department of Emergency Medicine. The position will also assist with the coordination and delivery of the research seminar series for the UICOMP residencies and to a lesser extent will also provide clerical assistance to the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the medical student education activities in the department for both internal (UICOMP) and external (visiting) students and supports the Research seminar series delivered to all residents.
  • Responsible for the schedule - Serves as liaison with Academic Affairs in scheduling students and completing proper enrollment forms.
  • Responsible for developing, preparing and maintaining the master ED shift schedules for all medical students during their rotations in the Emergency Department.
  • Coordinates orientation - Prepares materials and assists with all student orientation activities.
  • Arranges schedule for Emergency Medicine Administrative Resident to provide orientation didactic lecture and skills lab.
  • Works as liaison between Academic Affairs to coordinate enrollment in EPIC, online EPIC training before orientation and EPIC orientation day.
  • Schedules Emergency Medicine to meet and greet visiting students when they arrive for orientation.
  • Assists visiting students in acquiring parking cards, OSF ID's, cafeteria meal cards, and serves as a liaison between the faculty and visiting student.
  • Prepares and assists with medical education materials utilized during the rotations.
  • Assist with evaluations and grading - Prepares, collects and computes all medical student confidential evaluation forms.
  • Files completed evaluations for each student on a timely basis.
  • Maintains and prepares necessary confidential evaluation paperwork sent to visiting student's medical school.
  • Computes and compiles all evaluations completed by the student during the rotation.
  • Serves as proctor for the exams given during the rotation.
  • Compiles information needed to computes student's grades and presents materials for a grade to be assigned by the Director of Medical Student education.
  • Secures the Department Chair's signature and forwards all to Academic Affairs.
  • Verifies and ensures that every student has a grade signed and submitted to Academic Affairs after an Away Rotation.
  • Faculty Support for other Medical Student related Activities - Assists faculty involved with other medical student education activities at UICOMP. This will include, but not limited to, coordinating Ethics/Professionalism, M4-Intern and Ultrasound training/simulations.
  • Acts as resource for medical students' questions and concerns. Serves as a liaison between the medical students and the Director and/or Assistant Director of Medical Student Education and/or faculty and communicates medical student concerns/needs/issues to the appropriate faculty, administration, and academic affairs personnel.
  • Keyboards sensitive information and provides correspondence drafts.
  • Compiles a confidential annual cumulative medical student report to the Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine and the Residency Program Director.
  • Continually works on process improvements.
  • Assists with completion and approval of drop and add forms. Maintains confidential information and files related to medical student education.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series.

Ability to analyze and assist in the the development of office guidelines, procedures and systems preferred

Ability to select and develop appropriate criteria, methods and procedures to be utilized in order to solve problems preferred
