The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) prepares specimens for analysis by accessioning orders via LIS (CIS), verifying specimen acceptability and performing established pre-analytical procedures in accordance with laboratory policy in an accurate, safe and timely manner. This role provides support services for the clinical laboratories by resolving problem specimens/orders and responding to telephone inquiries for test results and specimen collection criteria. The Medical Lab Technician job duties are performed in a customer focused, courteous and efficient manner. This job must be available for other duties as assigned by team leaders, supervisors, and departmental Managers. Additionally, this job provides accurate and timely testing and reports results to requesting physicians and other health care professionals for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The Medical Lab Technician should consistently utilize excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers at all times. This position displays a positive and professional interpersonal style with a strong commitment to the team effort is mandatory. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: New graduates of an accredited program must obtain certification within 12 months of hire. Individuals with required Credential Maintenance: technical positions that require certification maintenance, team members must obtain the number CE hours as required by The Board of Certification Credential Maintenance Program (CMP). Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other equivalent accrediting agencies. **Certification not required but strongly encouraged if hired before January 2007 Experience PREFERRED: EEO Employer/Disabled/Protected Veteran/41 CFR 60-1.4. |
