CTD Temporary Summer STEM Instructor

CTD Academic Summer Camp at Northwestern University

In close collaboration with their Program Coordinator, CTD Instructors are responsible for the design and execution of their course, evaluation and documentation of student progress and performance, and the direct supervision of their Teaching Assistant.

Employment Dates and Stipend

  • Course and curriculum planning: April - May 2025
  • Tentative training dates:
  • Access to LMS & pre-season training provided in April
  • In-person training scheduled tentatively for Thursday, June 26, 2025
  • 3-Week Instructor: $3,600 per session
  • Session 1: June 26 - July 18, 2025
  • Session 4: July 20 - August 8, 2025
  • 1-Week Instructor: $1,250 per session
  • Session 2: July 6 through July 11, 2025
  • Session 3: July 13 through July 18, 2025
  • Session 5: July 20 through July 25, 2025
  • Session 6: July 27 through August 1, 2025

Limited housing is available to instructors from outside the Chicagoland area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and teaching experience required; master's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • 5 years teaching experience required; 7-10 years teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to adapt content for acceleration; experience with compacted curriculum is a plus.

General Responsibilities

  • Learn and implement CTD policies and procedures.
  • Uphold and promote the CTD Honor Code among staff and students.
  • Maintain CTD's standard of active supervision at all times.
  • Design all instructional activities and components of the course and prepare a syllabus using CTD template.
  • Create and maintain course website for students within CTD's learning management system.
  • Choose and request appropriate instructional materials for the course.
  • Review student medical notes (i.e. allergies/other medical needs) and uphold confidentiality policies.
  • Science instructors on campus: participate in laboratory safety training if required; prepare and implement safety plans
  • according to laboratory guidelines and regulations.
  • Execute course curriculum with an eye toward individual student progress and achievement.
  • Supervise Teaching Assistant's performance and engagement in the classroom.
  • Utilize student grading system according to guidelines and provide students with feedback on their work.
  • In collaboration with the Academic Director, contact families regarding student progress as needed.
  • Evaluate and assess students according to CTD guidelines and course objectives.
  • Assume program-related responsibilities as requested by CTD administrative staff.
