Job Details The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment in an academic medical and research environment. This role involves identifying hazards, implementing safety protocols, and promoting a culture of safety across the organization. This will include the rounding and hazard documentation in work areas associated with the organization. The Safety officer will assist in the coordination of the occupational accident and safety program, and the laboratory safety program. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Manage the Environment of Care Rounding program and will manage and complete EOC Tours with other regulatory departments. Conduct and document building wide and departmental Safety Inspections in various health care, research and academic buildings/environments. Maintains records and database of employee accidents and injuries Maintains records and database of life safety, hazard surveillance and research safety programs. Engages employees in safety programs and initiatives. Keeps minutes of associated departmental meetings within the EH&S related to the safety programs. Maintains accurate safety records and reports. Collaborates with management to promote safety initiatives. Works with Environmental Health and Safety Department staff and thinks "outside of the box" to promote safety initiatives within the organization. Stays updated on industry trends and best practices in workplace safety. Job Description* Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in occupational health, safety, or a related field Previous experience in safety management preferably in a healthcare or academic environment. Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
