As a Burn Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for programming our machines to obtain the production of quality parts.

• Piece processing, which could include grinding, beveling, or finishing
• Machine programming and setup for parts creation
• Daily machine operation for plate cutting parts to shape on burning machines
• Production of quality parts to customer specifications
• Efficient scrap utilization
• Staging material for shipping
• Operating an overhead crane to move skids of material or plate as needed
• Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe work environment
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Previous experience operating MG
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding

Salary: $22.74 hourly. A starting salary higher than $22.74 hourly is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
