Overview
A global manufacturing company is seeking an IT Asset / Systems Engineer to oversee and maintain the IT asset compliance within the U.S. organization, particularly focusing on meeting the compliance requirements set forth by the group corporate headquarters in Japan. This role will be responsible for ensuring all hardware, software, and add-on applications are accurately registered and maintained, while also proactively addressing potential vulnerabilities, outdated operating systems, and necessary server updates.
The ideal candidate can collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders within the U.S. organization as well as the IT/ Compliance team at the group headquarters. Experiences in infrastructure engineering (servers, networks, storage) is preferred but not mandatory as long as you have knowledge. Through this role, you can contribute to the overall IT environment of a prominent Japanese multinational corporation specializing in information and communication technology (ICT) products and services in the global and nationwide scale.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and peripheral devices. This involves accurate registration in the global corporate headquarters system and ongoing maintenance of asset information.
* Implement robust asset tracking systems to monitor the location, usage, and status of each asset.
* Conduct regular physical inventories to verify asset counts and identify discrepancies.
* Implementing robust security measures such as vulnerability assessments, OS and server updates, and security patch application to enhance the overall security posture of the IT environment.
* Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal of IT assets, aligned with the global Headquarters policies.
* Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure that asset purchases align with budgetary constraints and organizational needs.
* Oversee the deployment and configuration of new IT assets, ensuring smooth integration into the IT infrastructure.
* Schedule and manage asset maintenance and upgrades to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
* Develop a strategic asset retirement plan to dispose of outdated or surplus assets in an environmentally responsible manner.
* Conduct regular software audits to identify potential licensing issues and risks.
* Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential risks.
* Generate detailed reports on IT asset utilization, performance, and cost, including purchase prices, maintenance fees, and depreciation.
* Provide timely and accurate responses to IT compliance requests from the global headquarters.
* Closely collaborate with various departments in the organization to assess the current state of their IT environments, identify and resolve issues, and promote a security-conscious culture.
* As needed, designing and implementing IT infrastructure, and improving existing infrastructure.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
* Strong understanding of IT hardware, software, and networking concepts.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Bilingual Japanese and English (written, speaking, listening)
Preferred Skills:
* Proven experience in infrastructure engineering (servers, networks, storage) or IT asset management role.
* Experience with IT asset management tools
* Experience with various operating systems (Windows, Linux)
* Knowledge of security practices (vulnerability assessments, security measures)
* Certifications in relevant IT fields (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco)
