The Dudley, MA facility is home to Operations, Global Lens Engineering, and Research and Development teams that work together to develop, pilot and manufacture, semi-finished, polycarbonate lenses for premium markets. We also supply coatings, inks, inserts and other innovative products to customers throughout the world. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.1) Responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as but not limited to lathes and milling machines. 1.2) Setup and operate a full range of machine shop equipment to close tolerances with little or no supervision. Fabricate fixtures, tooling and mold components to meet engineering needs. Check new molds as to dimensions, identification and angles. 1.3) Responsible for loading parts, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements. 1.4) Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements. 1.5) Measures and marks dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining. 1.6) Write Programs for CNC controlled machine using Mastercam software and download these programs into machine using network, discs or thumb drives. 1.7) Read, understand and edit G and M codes in programs to make corrections or adjustments. 1.8) Knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales. 1.9) Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions. 1.10) Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines. 1.11) Knowledge of Mastercam software, G and M codes and posses the ability to download and edit programs in various machines. 1.12) Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. 1.13) Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. 1.14) Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication,division, geometry and algebra for the purpose calculating material fabrication. 1.15) Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor. 1.16) Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues. 1.17) Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment. 1.18) May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. 1.19) As a member of a high performance teams you will be responsible for a variety of jobs. As the team progresses, you, along with your team members will be a key decision maker in the operation of your part of the business BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 5.1) Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. 5.2) Minimum of 2 years experience operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines in a manufacturing environment. 5.3) 2 Year technical program in related fields.
