Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (
UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education.
UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school.
Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016,
UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition,
UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year. |

Rutgers The State University is seeking a Financial Assistant Advisor in the New Brunswick Outpatient Services within Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare.
Under the direction of the Office Manager and/or the Supervising Program Assistant, the Financial Assistant Advisor is responsible for the registration process for the
UBHC Outpatient Programs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Interviews and registers patients into the revenue cycle system.
- Interviews the patient and/or relatives and assists in the completing all required registration forms.
- Obtains necessary demographic and financial information prior to treatment.
- Obtains copies of the customer's insurance cards and identification prior to treatment.
- Reviews patient insurance information that was verified prior to patients' appointment.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Two (2) to three (3) years of progressively more responsible clerical experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a physician's office, hospital billing office or insurance company which involved billing and collection or medical insurance activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Position requires standing under 1/3 of the time, walking to under 1/3 of the time, sitting to over 2/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle, or feel over 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms under 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time.
- Requires lifting up to 10 pounds under 1/3 of the time.
- Special vision requirements of close vision ( clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision ( clear vision at 20 feet or more) and ability to adjust focus ( ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles under 1/3 of the time and toxic or caustic chemicals under 1/3 of the time.
