Job Summary:

In a career as a Director of Primary Care Clinics, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will oversee the operation of all Primary Care Clinics within Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH). Also, provides general administrative oversight of assigned departments and functions.

Schedule: Full-Time, Day hours Monday-Friday

Location: Pacific Street MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Assumes responsibility for administrative functions of Primary Care Clinics within BTNRH system to include new service planning, and human environmental and fiscal resources.
  • Directs planning efforts to improve Primary Care Clinic operations to include: establishing annual clinic goals and budgets; facility and information technology plans; staffing plans; marketing plans; and various performance improvement plans.
  • In coordination with the Primary Care Clinic Nurse Supervisors and the Patient Access Coordinators, supervises daily operation of the Primary Care Clinics. Insures that operating standards, policies, and procedures are consistently interpreted and applied in all BTNRH Primary Care Clinics.
  • Works closely with Associate Medical Director, Primary Care. Maintains excellent relations with staff Pediatricians and Internists. Helps to develop and support the role of a designated physician leader at each clinic and involve those leaders in key management activities. Acts as a liaison between physicians and nursing staff to assure harmonious working relationships are developed and maintained. Develops systems and support mechanisms to improve physician productivity, wherever necessary and appropriate.
  • With the assistance of Nurse Supervisors, responsible for staffing Primary Care Clinics with outstanding nursing professionals and maintaining high standards of practice. Interviews, hires, schedules, evaluates, counsels, rewards, and disciplines staff as necessary. Works closely with the BTNRH Chief Nursing Executive. Supports Clinical Performance Improvement plans and projects. Supports professional nursing practice policies, procedures, and systems developed. Coordinates Nursing CME activities, orients new nursing staff, and reviews nursing competencies on an annual basis.
  • Responsible for preparing the annual operating and capital budget requests, operating within budget targets and parameters, and for identifying ways to improve the cost-effectiveness and the productivity of the clinics. Reconciles credit card transactions on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for assessing and improving the patient satisfaction scores of the clinics wherever necessary. Participates in plans to increase the number of clinic visits, and to increase the visibility of the clinics and key physicians.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with internal policies and regulatory agencies, to include State, Federal, and The Joint Commission regulations. The Joint Commission readiness should be ongoing, including regular chart reviews, staff effectiveness reports, with any outstanding quality and/or patient safety issues having been resolved.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered nurse who is a graduate of an accredited school with a current state license required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience managing physician clinics, preferably within large, multi-site practice arrangements required.
  • Successful experience leading efforts to improve clinic performance in one or more areas required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Prior working knowledge of using a personal computer and electronic medical records required.
