Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Office of the Chief Financial Officer Division has an opening for a Student Assistant to join the team.

In this exciting role, you will work in Berkeley Lab's Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) as part of the Procurement and Property team to assist with purchasing high volume, low risk PCard and Purchase Orders including lab and office supplies, chemicals, tools, equipment, and off-site equipment maintenance and support services. The Student Assistant will be responsible for understanding the Service Center's key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, and contributes to the fulfillment of projects and functional area objectives, as well as the administration of the subcontracts post award.

What You Will Do:



  • In accordance with Lab Policies and Guidelines, assist with purchasing low risk goods and services using the appropriate purchasing methodology, including:


    • Documenting and maintaining all PCard and Purchase Orders
    • Providing customer service to internal and external stakeholders
    • Reconciling and closing out orders


  • Proactively coordinate with subcontract administrators in the Procurement department to complete any tasks such as:


    • Verifying vendor's enrollment statuses
    • Obtaining export compliance classification number for goods purchases
    • Obtaining and ensuring completeness of documentation for procurement specialists to issue notices-to-proceed
    • Database management




What is Required:



  • Enrolled in a full-time academic program.
  • Business/ Finance, Computer Sciences, Math, Economics, Accounting or other relevant course work at the undergraduate level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Hands-on knowledge in using Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat software.
  • Must be organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, a quick learner, and a self-starter.



Desired Qualifications:



  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity using online tools such as Google Applications (Gmail, Drive, Calendar).
  • Experience in a sales environment.
  • Familiarity with Oracle-PeopleSoft or equivalent.



Notes:



  • This is a part-time, 1 year, student assistant appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
  • Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, and certifications, and also aligned with the internal peer group. The budgeted annual salary range is $18.67 - $24.39 per hour.
  • Part-time, non-exempt (hourly paid) from overtime.

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule - a combination of teleworking and performing work on site at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA. Work schedules are dependent on business needs. Individuals working a hybrid schedule must reside within 150 miles of Berkeley Lab.
