Through strong partnerships UCF Global is committed to increasing international mobility and enhancing the university's global competency. Encompassing the English language programs and multiple support services for the international population on campus, UCF Global aides in transforming the lives of the UCF and global community.

The Opportunity:

UCF Global at the University of Central Florida is currently accepting applications for Director, International Student Services. The Direction oversees the Immigration Advising and International Admission Teams; is in charge for all international students and scholars at UCF; has oversight of the administrative and business procedures as it relates to immigration compliance. This position is in charge of implementing and overseeing the related services which includes, planning, interpreting, and coordinating procedural activities within the overall scope. In addition, is responsible for establishing and disseminating policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state regulations. The Director serves as the expert on policies relating to F and J visa holders that are studying or working at the university. Reports to the UCF Global Associate Vice President.

Responsibilities:



  • Oversees and supervises all the DSOs (Designated School Officials) for the F program, the Responsible Officers (ROs) for the J exchange program, and university authority on any issues related to compliance.

  • Ensures complete preparation of UCF Global for the successful SEVIS re-certification, biennial audits, special investigations and inquiries by ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement), SEVP (Student Exchange Visitor Program), FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), DOS (Department of State) and Homeland Security.

  • Interprets and develops new immigration policies in conjunction with the UCF Global Administrators.

  • Communicates to the university community new policies or current interpretation of policies as it relates to maintenance of status or employment of foreign nationals.

  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting of F and J visa holders as required by SEVIS.

  • Develops business processes to ensure timely processing of international students documents, I-20's and DS-2019's.

  • Stays current on immigration regulation changes and ensures all involved are informed of changes in order to provide accurate and consistent information.

  • Functions as the key immigration expert for the university in the interpretation of immigration rules related to international admissions, enrollment, legal employment of all F and J visa holders and other related issues.

  • Serves as the point of contact with federal agencies including DOS, ICE, SEVP, FBI and DHS.

  • Produces and maintains compliance files for all international programs the university is responsible for.

  • Works with elected and appointed government officials on issues related to programming, individuals, or any issues pertaining to bringing international students, scholars and researchers and their processing for compliance.

  • Develops and completes annual reports and surveys for NAFSA,FAIE, DOS, DHS, other agencies and the UCF community.

  • Develops and maintains liaison to all academic and student services units at the university.

  • Represents UCF Global at university wide committees including International Affairs Committee, Health Insurance committee, Advising Council and Graduate Coordinators Committee.

  • Works with top administrators at UCF in the development of international programs at the university.

  • Offers and facilitates workshops and training sessions for academic and student services units on issues related to international students including SEVIS updates, employment, J exchange program, international diversity and academic issues faced by international students, new faculty, international GTA orientations, and current students.

  • Serve as a liaison with other UCF colleges and university units that assist ELI students in their transition to UCF.

  • Work at a high and complex level regarding student handling, student experience, and programming.

  • Collaborate with the AVP & Faculty Lead to ensure the unit is adequately functioning to meet all operational and student needs.

  • Coordinate the successful execution of programming for at risk students.

  • Develop career development concepts and strategies into the student support development model.

  • Establish a peer mentor program designed to assist students develop their life and academic skills.

  • Coordinate committees, responsible for announcements, oversees the process, and communicates with students, officials, administration to award special funding.

  • Develops guidelines, policies, deadlines, forms regarding special funding.

  • Secures funding by seeking opportunities with departments at UCF and outside agencies. Includes, but not limited to: IME Becas, Latin American and Caribbean Scholarship Program, Hardship Waivers and Funding, Special payment plans for international students attending UCF.

  • Other duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working with SEVIS protocols and annual certification.

  • Experience working for a medium to large size institution.

  • Experience working with foreign influence laws.

  • Experience managing successful teams in higher education; serving international students.

  • Proven record of successfully leading services related to serving international students, scholars, and researchers.
