The Wegmans School of Nursing produces nursing graduates trained to provide exceptional patient care. Program offerings include the traditional nursing and RN to
BSN online programs at the undergraduate level, master's programs in nursing and mental health counseling, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (
DNP) degree program. The School's graduate programs ranked No. 32 among the top nursing graduate programs in the country by
U.S. News & World Report. Fisher nursing graduates consistently outpace their peers in passing the National Council Licensure Examination (
NCLEX) on their first attempt, placing them in the top five percent of all New York schools.
The baccalaureate, master's, and
DNP programs at Fisher are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the mental health counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (
CACREP).

Job Responsibilities |
This full-time 12-month, non-tenured faculty position will collaborate with the Clinical Placement Manager and Graduate Program Chair to support all aspects of clinical placements. The clinical placement specialist will play a key role in developing, building, and maintaining clinical partnerships with graduate clinical sites and preceptors. The placement specialist will work closely with all Program Coordinators to ensure appropriate and timely clinical placements and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the WSON Clinical Placement Manager and Graduate Program Chair to ensure that APRN clinical placement needs are met.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding the clinical education needs of advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) graduate students in the WSON.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the clinical education guidelines and requirements set forth by State and National APRN organizations including but not limited to NONPF, NACNS, AACN and CCNE.
- Identify, recruit, and verify new APRN clinical placement sites that meet the identified regulatory and educational requirements for APRN clinical experiences.
- Identify, recruit, and verify new APRN clinical preceptors that meet the identified regulatory and educational requirements for APRN clinical experiences.
- Interface with current and potential preceptors and clinical sites to support onboarding and
- Maintain accurate records (in required databases such as Typhon) related to APRN graduate clinical placements, including but not limited to preceptors, credentialing, and clinical affiliation agreements.
- Collaborate with clinical affiliates as well as SJF/WSON Legal Counsel when securing affiliation agreements and certificates of insurance.
- Maintain an active database of all approved adjunct practicum/clinical faculty and preceptors by practicum/clinical specialty for the graduate nursing program.
- Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of the facilities in which students are placed.
- Use continuous process improvement skills to refine practicum/clinical process to create a seamless procedure for graduate nursing students and practicum/clinical affiliates.
- Communicate with practicum/clinical sites through) each semester and as often as necessary.
- Maintain an updated database with specific compliance and/or training requirements for each practicum/clinical, and/or community facility.
- Maintain files and all practicum/clinical documentation for current students.
- Collaborate with graduate program coordinators and graduate chair to evaluate practicum sites.
- Schedule orientation sessions and meetings with new preceptors and serve as a resource contact and support person for graduate nursing faculty and graduate nursing practicum faculty.
- Coordinate and provide annual aggregate site evaluation data to the Graduate Program Chair.
- Coordinate and provide annual aggregate preceptor evaluation data to the Graduate Program Chair.
- In collaboration with the Graduate Program Chair Department, manage graduate nursing student practicum placement issues as appropriate.
- Attend WSON faculty and graduate meetings.
- Teaching load will vary and will depend on the needs of the program.
- Any other duties as assigned or required.

Education / Experience |
Master's degree in Nursing (
APRN preferred), nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner, who maintains current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (
APRN) and has a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience.
Experience: A minimum of two years of
APRN direct care clinical experience, prior clinical placement experience encouraged. |
Competencies / Skills |
The
APRN Clinical Placement Specialist must possess the following skills and attributes: management and leadership skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong clinical and professional skills; Must be proficient in computer usage, Microsoft Office suite, Zoom, and Google platforms. Must be able to work independently and autonomously.
