Assistant Professor of Finance Beginning August 2025 POSITION SUMMARY. The Francis J. Noonan School of Business, Engineering, and Innovation at Loras College invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Finance available August 2025. The Finance major at Loras is recognized by the CFA Institute as a University Affiliate Program. Additionally, a minor in Financial Planning and Wealth Management meets the educational requirements of the CFP Board. Combined with the CPA prep curriculum of the Accounting major, this makes Loras the rare small, private college providing all three opportunities to students. The number of finance majors at the college has continued its upward trajectory and is one of the largest on campus. The usual teaching load is 24 hours/credits per academic year, although first-year faculty have a 21-credit load. The precise courses taught will depend on the candidate's areas of expertise and the needs of the Finance major, although there is a strong preference for candidates with analytics interests and the ability to teach Business Analytics courses. The ability and interest to teach Principles of Microeconomics or Macroeconomics are highly desired. Development of new Finance major electives in line with the candidate's expertise is welcomed. The successful candidate will be an individual committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. M.B.A. or Master's degree in finance or financial economics or related field is required. A doctorate in finance, financial economics, or a related field is desirable. College-level teaching experience preferred. Professional designation (CFA/CFP) and/or industry experience desirable. The flexibility and interest to potentially teach in other business areas, particularly Analytics or Economics, are highly desirable traits. COMPENSATION. Commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. The Noonan School of Business, Engineering, and Innovation consists of 30 full-time faculty members and offers majors in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Public Relations, Creative Media, etc. THE COLLEGE. Founded in 1839, Loras College is a Catholic, primarily undergraduate, liberal arts institution that includes pre-professional and career preparation programs, as well as several graduate programs. Loras College's 60-acre campus is located on one of Dubuque's highest bluffs, overlooking the Mississippi River at the junction of the states of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, about 3 hours west of Chicago. Dubuque's population is approximately 60,000 and its nineteenth-century architecture is woven into limestone bluffs and provides a picturesque backdrop to the river landscape. Many residential and commercial areas have been designated as historical districts to preserve Dubuque's unique heritage. Its strong education base supports numerous cultural activities, and in addition, there are sporting events, shopping facilities, schools, and churches that are convenient to its residents. The climate has marked seasons with a comfortable summer, cool spring, and fall, and a winter that encourages a variety of sports that have in recent years attracted a growing tourism industry.
