Job Description

Looking For:An AutoCAD Drafter to support our Ship Design team at the United States Coast Guard HQ in Washington, DC!

A week in the life of a AutoCAD Drafter:



  • Create and edit detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for ship components and structures, ensuring compliance with project specifications and US Coast Guard design standards as well as NVR/ABS regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with marine engineers, naval architects, and other project stakeholders to gather requirements and refine designs.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to design changes, revisions, and specifications.
  • Review designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the engineering team during the construction and modification of vessels.
  • Assist in the management and coordination of drafting projects to ensure timely delivery.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance


At least ten (10) years of experience in:



  • Creating 3D drawings with AutoCAD (or equivalent) software.


At least three (3) years of experiece in:



  • Marine piping

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $ 80,000 - 90,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
