Purpose of the Job

The Manager of IT Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers overseeing the design, build, implementation, maintenance, and decommission of all IT Infrastructure in a complex on-premise data center and cloud environment. The Manager, IT Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of critical systems and services, and aligning technology solutions with business objectives. The Manager, IT Infrastructure Engineering will champion operational excellence, security best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance, reduce costs, and enhance the overall environment. This position requires a strong understanding of modern IT infrastructure principles, a passion for technology, and a proven ability to lead and inspire a high-performing team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manages the team of IT Infrastructure Engineers, primarily focused on Microsoft platforms.
  • Performs various IT Engineering coordination and execution of duties, including but not limited to Backup/Restore configuration, implementation, validation, and administration, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Group Policy, Certificate Services, Microsoft Exchange, VMWare ESXi, Hyper-V and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
  • Ensures project/department milestones/goals are met on time and adhere to approved budgets.
  • Assists with developing, implementing, and enforcing IT Security policies and procedures within the IT Infrastructure Engineering Team's area of responsibility.
  • Designs, implements, and supports Microsoft Windows, hypervisor, and hardware technology.
  • Designs, implements, and supports Cloud and SaaS initiatives with the support of the Infrastructure and InfoSec Teams, such as, but not limited to, Azure.
  • Designs, implements, and validates Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans.
  • Evaluates vendor products in hardware and software and recommend purchases consistent with short and long-term objectives.
  • Monitors system uptime and performance through regular monitoring to ensure optimal performance and high availability.
  • Establishes and manages current and new vendor relationships in the maintenance, service, and/or purchase of software and hardware equipment and application licensing compliance.
  • Establishes, implements, and holds teams accountable to policies, procedures and standards, ensuring conformance with information systems and objectives to include cybersecurity vulnerabilities and concerns.
  • Establishes and maintains proper system documentation for installing, using, and solving problems with communications hardware and software.
  • Maintains network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Provides assistance in the administration of IT security best practices.
  • Assists in developing departmental budget and is responsible for adhering to fiscal guidelines.
  • Participates in annual review process, including writing and delivering reviews as needed.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Works closely with other business unit leaders to support Credit Union objectives/goals.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel between Truliant FCU locations as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including but not limited to the Microsoft Operating systems, VMware Hypervisor technology, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and Hardware administration
  • Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Domain, Active Directory, Exchange, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
  • Must have strong knowledge of backup/recovery and business continuity procedures.
  • Must have strong knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Must read, write, and interpret technical documentation and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to research software issues and products as required.
  • Must have proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong managerial and administrative skills required.
  • Must have strong project management skills.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Must be able to evaluate systems and procedures, implementing efficiency enhancements.
  • Must have the ability to understand all business processes within the credit union.
  • Must be detail-oriented and well-organized.
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment.
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required.
  • Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Should be strongly committed to providing excellent service to Truliant's members.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds

Education and Background

  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or related discipline is required
  • 3 years' previous management experience required
  • 7+ years' experience in one or more of the following Information Technology job fields is required:
    • IT Infrastructure Engineering
    • IT Systems Engineering
    • Microsoft Azure/Cloud Engineering
  • Experience managing Azure Cloud and Microsoft 365 Services, including but not limited to Azure Cloud Computing, Copilot, Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Power Apps, and Project required.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience required.
  • Experience with data management required.
  • Microsoft, VMware, and HPE technical certifications are preferred
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment preferred.
