JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The laboratory of Dr. Shaun Mahony in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department at Penn State is seeking a part-time Lab Assistant to perform computational biology data analysis in the area of regulatory genomics. The position will involve developing software approaches for characterizing regulatory elements in repetitive regions of the genome. This lab assistant will develop computational methods, run bioinformatics pipelines, and prepare reports of research for presentation or publication. Programming experience in a relevant language (e.g., Python) is required, and experience with Linux is preferred. Prior experience developing regulatory genomics analysis methods is preferred. Applicants should have obtained a Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or related fields. This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
